Handmade Detroit has experienced a baby BOOM and we decided a fun way to celebrate this is would be moving our Spring craft show Craft Revival to May!
The show will be the day before Mothers Day, Saturday, May 12th once again at The Loving Touch in Ferndale! Applications are going live next week Friday, February 24th and will be open until March 18th, so please help us spread the word to any and all crafty friends that would like to apply!
This is a pint size event compared to Detroit Urban Craft Fair - it’s only one day and spaces are few, but we love our Spring event and seeing local crafters latest designs and work!
There will be other features to reveal, super cool poster design and news in the coming months but in the mean time call your Mama, mark your calendars and we look forward to all getting together!

Join us for an afternoon of friends and crafting! Small Craft will be hosting our monthly Skillshare and Pop-Up Shop this Saturday at the Trumbullplex Theatre in Detroit.
Annie from Thriftfulness will show us how to make delightfully thoughtful Valentines for less with scrap-crafts.
Just for fun, you’re encouraged to make your Valentines Motor City themed, with lyrics from the Motown Sound. Do you hear a symphony? Is your love like a heat wave? Much fun will be had.

Fashion in Detroit just got a big boost! Behold: The Workroom, a savvy fashion cooperative aimed at working together with local designers, photographers, make-up artists and the like to promote and help each other’s businesses grow.
I followed them through the recent Hatch Detroit contest, and though they did not take home the top prize, like many other finalists they have moved forward to develop their business plan.
On January 19th they hosted their first event, Workroom 1.0, which included a runway show, pop-up photography studio, and bazaar, where designers could meet with the public to talk about their business (as well as sell some wonderful work!)
Click here to see some pictures from the evening.
What a fun night! I look forward to Workroom 2.0!

Obviously, the shape of our Lower Peninsula and the DIY culture of Michiganders is a huge inspiration to Handmade Detroit.
What and who in Michigan inspires you and your crafty endeavors? Let us know in the comments!

I had a great time shopping at Pewabic Pottery for the first time last week at their “Holiday Shopping Eve” night. Having heard so much about Pewabic for years, I was very excited to check it out, and was amazed to see a packed shopping night and really beautiful gifts for sale!
Lou at Pewabic gave me a mini-tour of the different rooms, and the back of the building where all the molds are stored and the pottery is made. I was even able to meet one of Pewabic’s artists who was working on making more of their limited edition ornaments! Lou also explained to me all the different types of glazes available and a bit of the 100+ year old history of Pewabic.
